PURPOSE:To reduce the auxiliary material melting time by providing plural auxiliary material supply ports on the ceiling of a furnace casing to separately charge the auxiliary material, and providing a means for agitating the charged auxiliary material. CONSTITUTION:Plural auxiliary material supply ports 6-1 and 6-2 are provided on the fixed ceiling 3 of the casing 2 of the electric furnace for producing rock wool, and partial supply devices 6-3 and 6-4 are set to the ports to continuously or intermittently supply the auxiliary material in small portions. Molten slag 1 is charged batchwise into the furnace from an essential material supply port 5. Gaseous N2, etc., are blown into the furnace from bubbling lances 7-1 and 7-2 simultaneously with the supply of the auxiliary material to bubble the molten slag 1, and the molten slag 1 and auxiliary material are agitated and mixed. Since the auxiliary material does not form a large block and forms only small blocks, the contact area with the molten slag 1 is increased, and the melting time is reduced. |
