A separation of impurities from a impure mixt. contg. a growth hormone-like material (GHM) comprises (a) applying the impure mixt. obtd. as a result of recombinant DNA expression of GHM to a reverse phase macroporous acrylate ester copolymer resin support at pH 7-9, and (b) eluting GHM with aq. eluent of pH 7-9 contg. 20-80 vol.% of acetone and/or acetonitoile. The process is applicable to human, porcine or bovine growth hormone.
