Improved guillotine-type door characterised in that it opens by tilting about a lower pivot pin 15, the ends of which are the lower fingers 13 for guiding along the vertical slideways, the said lower fingers receiving the attachment of the end of the kinematic linkage to the mechanical device 31 which assists the operation and these fingers being immobilised in the lower down position by a retaining device 22 and in that each vertical slideway has, in the region of each upper finger 14, a lateral disengagement device for allowing the door to tilt and then for it to pivot about the lower pin 15. This invention is of interest to manufacturers of closed hearths for fireplaces. <IMAGE>
