The method for removing cable threads during unsheathing of multi-core cables at the cable end works with a jet of liquid (36). Said jet is directed in an essentially radial direction against the unsheathed region of the cable end (10). As a result, the cable threads (16) separate from the ends (12) of the cores and form a continuous wet mop (bundle) of threads. This mop of threads can then be cut off from the cable (10) in a subsequent, further work station without any difficulties. <IMAGE>
