A method for preparing an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) copolymer is provided to obtain an ABS graft copolymer having a high total solid content and rubber content, excellent polymerization stability and improved heat resistance via an emulsion polymerization process. A method for preparing an ABS graft copolymer using emulsion polymerization is characterized by using colloidal silica as a polymerization additive. Particularly, the method comprises the steps of: (a) introducing rubber latex and a portion of a monomer mixture containing an aromatic vinyl compound and a vinyl cyanide compound, an emulsifier, deionized water, molecular weight modifier and colloidal silica into a polymerization reactor, and introducing an oil-soluble redox initiator and activator thereto to initiate polymerization; (b) introducing a monomer emulsion containing another portion of the monomer mixture, an emulsifier and deionized water, oil-soluble redox initiator and activator continuously to the reactor, 30 minutes-1 hour after the initiation of reaction of step (a), to perform a reaction; and (c) further introducing an oil soluble redox initiator and activator thereto to perform a reaction.
