The invention relates to a holder for cutlery, such as knives with a blade, which has at least one gap for inserting the blade of the knife. For a sufficient hold of the inserted blades of knives, provision is made for a block to be formed from a plurality of layers of thin, laminar material which forms gaps between the layers in at least one side situated perpendicularly to the layers.
