In a baling press for producing rolled bales made of stalk material, a yielding winding chamber (11) is formed of a floor conveyor (12), a front set of belts (13) and a rear set of belts (14). Two belt sections (24, 26) moving in opposite directions pass between two intermediate rollers (23, 28), which are carried on a supporting part (37) so as to be capable of moving upwards around a pivot on a curved track. The belt section (29) remote from the winding chamber (11) passes over a movable tension roller (31) mounted inside the belt loop in addition to rollers at fixed locations in the rear housing. <IMAGE>
