Tubular furnace for the electrothermal atomisation of samples in atomic absorption spectroscopy

The furnace comprises a tubular furnace body (10) having contact projections (12, 14), having contact surfaces (28, 30), attached to opposite sides. The contact projections (12, 14) have constrictions (56, 58) to which are connected cylindrical contact pieces (24, 26) having conical contact surfaces (28, 30). There is described a platform for accommodating the sample which can be inserted into the furnace and is only indirectly heated by the furnace. In addition there are provided matched contacts between which the furnace is held and via which power (electric current) is conducted transversely through the furnace body. The contacts form a hollow space into which protective gas is introduced. <IMAGE>
