NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I or formula II (R is alkoxy). USE:An antibiotic. Useful as an antigermicide because of having antigerm activity. PREPARATION:L-179 Strain (FERM P-9661) belonging to the genus Leptosphaeri is cultivated in a culture medium containing normal nutritive under aerobic conditions at 10-30 deg.C for 3-10 day and extracted with acetone-ethyl acetate, etc., to afford the compound expressed by formula I. The compound expressed by formula I is then subjected to alkali treatment to provide the compound expressed by formula II. Properties of the compound expressed by formula I: Appearance, colorless needle crystal; elemental analysis, C 71.00%, H 4.99%, N 8.67%; mol.wt., 320; molecular formura C19H16N2O3; specific rotation, [alpha]D<22>=+34.7 deg.; solubility, soluble in methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate and chloro form and insoluble in water, etc. Properties of the compound expressed by formula II: appearance, colorless needle crystal; elemental analysis, C 74.18%, H 4.64%, N 13.35%; mol.wt., 210; molecular formula, C13H10N2O, etc. |
