PURPOSE:To shorten editing time by storing also the uncompressed head address in a storing area at the head of a block when data are compressed and stored so that a desired address is detected and only a necessary part can be edited. CONSTITUTION:The data are read out of a memory 13 and supplied to a compression processor 14 to be compressed. A CPU compares the compressed data with the data preceding said compressed data by one step. When the coincidence is obtained between both data, '1' is added to the number of compressed data and the next data is read out. If no coincidence is obtained between both data, it is checked whether the data preceding by one step is compressed or not when the data is written into a working buffer area of a main memory 11. If so, the data read out of the memory 13 are written into the working buffer. When this buffer is filled, the data are transferred to an auxiliary memory 12 and the address of the next data is written at the head of the buffer. Thus only a necessary part can be edited and therefore the editing time is shortened. |
