PURPOSE:To obtain the above derivative imparted with excellent deodorizing activity, eliminating various kinds of ill odor, having excellent washing resistance and safety and capable of keeping the deodorizing effect over a long period, by bonding an acidic group and a basic group to cellulose. CONSTITUTION:The objective cellulose derivative is produced by bonding a cellulose with an acidic group (e.g., phosphoric acid group, polyphosphoric acid group, phosphorous acid group, carboxyl group or sulfonic acid group) and/or a basic group (e.g., amino group or quaternary ammonium group). The introduction of the acidic group can be carried out, e.g., by using urea as a condensation agent in the case of phosphoric acid or polyphosphoric acid to form an ester bond with cellulose and using sodium chloroacetate in the case of introducing carboxyl group. The basic group can be introduced usually by treating cellulose together with an alkylamine, etc., having eliminable group (e.g., sulfuric acid group or halogen). |
