PURPOSE:To obtain a high-contrast picture which is free from flares, by providing an optical low-pass filter having light shielding part formed on the side surface to the surface of a solid-state image pickup device. CONSTITUTION:A CCD chip 11 is fixed on a package 13, and a color filter array 15 is formed on the upper surface of the chip 11. The array 15 contains the transmitting parts of red, green and blue respectively arranged checkerwise. An optical low-pass filter 17 is adhered on the surface of the opening part of the package 13. A light shielding part 18 is formed with carbon, etc. on the circumference side surface of the filter 17. This filter 17 reduces the horizontal image resolution by making use of a double refraction effect. Therefore, it is possible to obtain a high-contrast picture by vignetting in spite of surface soil. Furthermore, an input of the high-frequency component is prevented to eliminate the beat disturbance. |
