<p>Thickened aq. dispersions having controllable viscosity consist of (a) water, (b) 45-75 wt.% (w.r.t. water, polymer and nonionic surfactant) of a C2F4 polymer, (I), having melt viscosity >=1 x 108 Pa. sec. (or 1 x 109 poise) at 380 degrees C, (c) 3-11 wt.% (w.r.t. polymer wt.) of a nonionic surfactant, or wetting agent, and (d), as thickener; 0.2-90 (0.2-13) g/kg dispersion of an Na phosphate, (II), having mol. ratio Na2O:P2O5 1:1 to 2:1 (1.051 to 1.2:1) esp. 1.15:1. The aq. dispersions may also contain an inert filler. The dispersions can be used for coating fabrics and as sealants. Use of (II) allows the reduction of dispersion viscosity by adding specific solid electrolytes, without adding liq.; i.e. viscosity can be reduced without altering dispersion vol. The thickened dispersions are stable to storage and transport, and resist deposition of components, e.g. fillers.</p> |
