#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves determining a volumic flow of an exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine (2). A back pressure set point is determined for simulating an equipment e.g. particle filter, placed downstream of the engine. A set point position (alpha) of a valve (11) e.g. butterfly valve, of a testing rig is determined according to a volumic flow of the back pressure set point and predetermined characteristics of the valve for controlling a position of the valve in order to adjust the back pressure in an upstream of the valve. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a testing rig comprising an exhaust duct. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Method for regulating an exhaust back pressure of an internal combustion engine e.g. spark ignition engine and diesel engine, on a testing rig (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The set point position of the valve is determined according to the flow of the back pressure set point and predetermined characteristics of the valve, thus eliminating a control loop and rapidly determining the set point position.
