PURPOSE:To make it possible to tighten or loosen through a turnable nut with a holding ring and the whole device small and light by providing the holding nut concentrically to a body of a chuck which is made on jaws possible to slide diagonally in expanding and contracting with screw action through turning of the turnable nut. CONSTITUTION:Female thread 5 on a turnable nut 3 is threadedly engaged to male thread 6 on jaws 2, a nut 3 is press fitted into an operating barrel 7, plural hollow portions 8 are provided on outer periphery surface of the operating barrel 7, a seat plate 10 is situated on the turnable nut 3 side of a flange portion 9 of a chuck body 3 and bearing substance 11 is made to lie between the seat plate 10 and the turnable nut 3. A holding ring 12 is fixed to the chuck body 1 with a detent and hollow portions 13 are formed on outer periphery surface of the body. When the operating barrel 7 is made to turn on gripping the holding ring 12, the turnable nut 3 turns and through screw action of the turnable nut 3 and jaws 2, jaws 2 slide forward in contracting for press tightening a working tool C and when the turnable nut 3 is made to turn in reverse direction jaws slide back in expanding to loosen the working tool C. |
