The window level and width calculator (13) works to find a window level based upon an averaged value of the pixel data for each reconstructed image, to find a value that has a predetermined relation to the window level as a window width. The reconstructed image is displayed in accordance with the window level and width thus found. The window level and width set by a manual unit (23) are switched as required.
