PROCESS AND COPYING MACHINE FOR THE DIGITAL CONTROL OF A MACHINE TOOL

The copying machine is used in copy milling machines with which workpieces are produced whose shape is produced by tracing a pattern with a tracing head having a stylus and by processing the signals produced by the stylus in a processor for controlling the servo-motors of the copy milling machine. In contrast to known copy milling machines, the desired value of the tracer deflection of the stylus can be set differently in both the radial and axial direction of the stylus and can be varied as a function of the direction of deflection and the feed direction. The deviations arising at the milling cutter during machining can thereby be compensated. In addition, since the contact pressure of the tracer on the pattern is adjustable, damage to the pattern through repeated tracing of the pattern can be largely avoided. With the tracer additionally servo-controlled in the direction of movement, the copying errors occurring in known copying systems at discontinuous pattern transitions are also avoided.
