PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of optical signal multiplex transmission by converting a transmission bit into a code word at higher speed and a smaller correlation than those of the word and converting the converted signal into an optical signal. CONSTITUTION:In applying a transmission bit to a terminal 101, it is converted into a code at high speed and less correlation by a code converter 102 and applied to an electrooptical converter 103. The output of the electrooptical converter 103 is fed to one input terminal of an optical multiplexer 104, multiplexed with optical signals applied to other input terminal of the multiplexer and generated by other transmitter and the result is outputted from a terminal 105. Since lots of gates composed of complicated active elements multiplexing an electric signal are saved in this way, it is possible to keep the reliability of the entire system high. |
