PURPOSE:To form an ink layer exhibiting a high printing density and a good surface smoothness with a low content of a coloring agent, by a method wherein uneven distribution of carbon black in the ink is made one-sided by toward the substrate in the ink layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer body 1 consists of a substrate 2 and an ink layer 3. A carbon black 3a in the ink layer 3 is one-sided toward the substrate 2. In the ink layer 3 transferred on a transfer paper 4, the side having the one-sided distribution of carbon black 3a is disposed outside. Therefore, a reflection density of an obtained printing becomes high even with a low carbon black content in the whole layer 3, and a printing with a high reflection density can be obtained. The carbon black is made offset toward the substrate in the ink layer by a method wherein ; a binder having poor dispersion properties to the carbon black as a coloring agent is selected, the ink is left to stand for a sufficient time for setting after a hot melt coating, whereby the carbon black is settled one-sided toward the substrate while the ink is in a melt state. The content of the carbon black in the ink is generally determined to be the order of 5-10wt.%. |
