An image forming device and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent the heating of a fixing unit dually by the control of a control unit and hardware control when the surface of the fixing unit is heated and block the heating of the heating lamp of the fixing unit previously by initializing the control unit when the control unit is abnormally operated, thereby preventing the damage and fire of the internal parts of the fixing unit fundamentally. A temperature sensing unit(150) has a resistance value varied according to a change of the temperature of a fixing unit(120). A temperature comparison unit(180) outputs a comparison signal according to the difference between the phases of a temperature detection signal, formed on the basis of the resistance value of the temperature sensing unit, and a preset reference signal. A reset circuit unit(170) initializes a control unit in response to the comparison signal.
