An LCD device and a driving method thereof are provided to enhance image quality without motion blur by supplying different data to pixel areas based on still or moving images. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes an input unit, a still image detector(110), a data shifter(112), a selector, and a date driver(106). The input unit inputs data. The still image detector detects still images using the data from the input unit and generates a selection signal corresponding to the detected result. The data shifter shifts the data from the input unit and generates the shifted data. The selector selects one of the data from the input unit and the data from the data shifter according to the selection signal from the still image detector. The date driver is driven by the selected data.
