A method of effecting satisfactory lamination of at least one high-density film of plastics material (5, 6) on a foamed film or web (4) of plastics material comprises heating the high-density film to just below it fusion temperature, heating the foamed film to just below the temperature - which the foam collapses and laminating the films together in the nip (3) defined between two lamination rollers (1, 2) wherein the period during which the high-density film (5, 6) remains in contact with its associated roller (1, 2) prior to reaching the nip (3) is regulated so that the optimum lamination temperature can be attained. An apparatus is also provided wherein the regulation of the contact time is achieved by providing a displaceable guide roller (7, 7a) for each film (5, 6) of high-density material so that the point at which the film (5, 6) strikes the roller (1, 2) can be varied. <IMAGE> |
