The invention relates to a cutting terminal having a contact part on which there is provided a slot (3) holding an electrical lead (13), the side edges of which slot (3) are designed as cutting edges (5) which penetrate the insulation of the lead (13) and make contact with the electrical conductor (14) of the lead (13), which cutting terminal furthermore has a contact tab (9), which makes electrical contact with the contact part (9). A suitable shape of the cutting terminal for automatic connection of the electrical lead is achieved by supporting surfaces (7) being provided running at right angles to the axis of the slot (3) on the contact part (2) of the insertion opening (4) of the slot (3) located opposite to the two outer sides of the contact part (2). <IMAGE>
