发明名称 METALLIC-VAPOR LASER OSCILLATION
摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce spectral band width by using a metal composed of a single isotope as a metal. CONSTITUTION:Only <63>Cu is employed as copper fed into a discharge tube 1 for a gas laser oscillator. An electrolytic solution is made to flow in the direction opposite to the direction of movement of ions so that only <63>Cu ions having large velocity are moved toward a cathode from an anode in the isotope, and only <63>Cu ions are collected to a cathode chamber, concentrated and solidified. Consequently, one transmission window 4a is removed and copper 15 composed of only the isotope of the solidified <63>Cu is positioned into a discharge tube 1, the transmission window 4a is mounted in an airtight manner again, and the inside of the discharge tube 1 is decompressed at specified pressure while a buffer gas is introduced and discharge is started between discharge electrodes 10, 11. Copper 15 is vaporized by the discharge and the vaporized copper is excited by discharge as a laser medium, and laser oscillation is conducted. Accordingly, isotope shift is removed by employing copper consisting of a single isotope, thus reducing spectral band width.
