In the optical device an objective is moved axially its optical axis relative to a frame in a paralled guide by means of first electro- magnetic actuating device connected to the objective and second electromagnetic actuating device arranged on the frame, the two actuating devices co-operate axially with each other by means of a magnetic field which is oriented transversely of the optical axis and transversely of the direction of movement of the objective. In order to suppress vibrations caused by axial reactive forces transmitted from the second actuating device to the frame, axially resilient damping device, e.g. leaf springs, are arranged between the frame and at least a part of the second actuating means. The movements of the second actuating device do not affect the position of the objective.
