PURPOSE:To enable a transfer recording with a continuous gradation to obtain a high-quality image by providing a microcapsule layer containing a leuco dye on one surface of a substrate, on this layer a hot melt layer containing a color developer which reacts with the leuco dye to produce a color, and a conductive layer on the other surface of the substrate. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 3 consisting of a heat-resistant film such as a polyethylene terephthalate is provided with a microcapsule layer 7 made of microcapsules 5 containing a leuco dye 6 on one surface thereof, a hot melt layer 9 containing a color developer 8 formed thereon, and a conductive layer 2 on the other surface thereof. The films of the microcapsules 5 are porous and capable of controlling the transmission of the leuco dye according to the amount of a thermal energy. When electrorecording needles 13 are electrically conducted according an image signal to be heated up to temperatures T1, T2, T3, accordingly the leuco dye 6 is emitted from the microcapsules 5 of an electrothermo-transfer sheet 1 to react with the melting color developer to produce a color. Then, the colored melt layer is transferred to a recording sheet 12 to record a transfer image with a continuous gradation. |
