PURPOSE:To reduce the driving torque of a developer carrying part with simple constitution by covering the surfaces of both lengthwise parts of a developer carrier except its developer carrying part or the developer carrier abutting surfaces of both lengthwise end parts of a layer thickness control means except its layer thickness control part with a material which is small in friction coefficient. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral surfaces 7b of both lengthwise end parts of the developing roller 7 except the developer carrying part 7a or the abutting surfaces of both lengthwise end parts 15d of the elastic blade 15 except the layer thickness control part where a developing roller 7 abuts are covered with fluororesin which is small in friction coefficient. Therefore, the peripheral surfaces contact the elastic blade 15 directly over the entire lengthwise area of the developing roller 7. Consequently, the friction resistance at the time of layer thickness control is reduced and the driving torque of the developing device is reduced. |
