PURPOSE:To prevent a drop in the residual capacity rate of a battery to increase the capacity of a battery by insulatedly arranging a water forming catalyst, and specifying the ratio of the inherent capacity of the anode to that of the cathode. CONSTITUTION:A water forming catalyst is arranged in an outer can with it insulated from the circumference. A ratio of the inherent capacity of an anode to that of a cathode is specified so that after oxygen gas evolved in the cathode, hydrogen gas evolves in the anode during charging. In charging, oxygen gas evolves in the cathode, and after that, hydrogen gas evolves in the anode, then water is formed from O2 gas and H2 gas by the action of the water forming catalyst, and water formed is returned to an electrolyte again. No hydrogen gas flows out to the outside of a battery, and no short circuit caused by drying out is produced. A drop in the residual capacity rate of a battery is prevented and the capacity of the battery is increased. |
