PURPOSE:To provide a transparent optical resin composition whose refractive index can be freely controlled by varying the ratio of the polymer to the monomer, by irradiating a mixture comprising a low-refractive index polymer, a high-refractive index monomer and a photopolymerization initiator with ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION:A low-refractive index polymer is mixed with a high-refractive index monomer (e.g., methyl acrylate) and a photopolymerization initiator (e.g., benzoin). The obtained mixture is irradiated with ultraviolet rays to produce a transparent resin composition. As said low-refractive index polymer, a polymer comprising 60-80wt.% short-chain fluoroalkylmethacrylate (e.g., 2,2,2- trifluoroethyl methacrylate), 10-20wt.% 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate and 10-30wt.% other acrylate monomers is suitable. The obtained transparent resin composition whitens as the temperature increases, so that it can be used as an optical switch. |
