This invention provides a process for continuously producing lace-like felt having poriform openings by intentionally producing pilling. A defibrated lap is fed to a fulling apparatus. In the fulling apparatus, a table (10), a cloth (a canvas) (11) provided on the table, a cloth (a canvas) (12), a sheet-like felt (13), a cloth (a canvas) (12), a lap (14), a cloth (a canvas) (12) a sheet-like felt (13), and a fulling board (15) are disposed in that order. The lap is superimposed between clothes on the inner side of the sheet-like felt (13). Steaming is carried out, followed by fulling by a fulling board at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined period of time. As a result, pilling is forcibly generated, and the fabric thus formed is in a felt form (a lace-like felt) having openings. Fulling is carried out by eccentrically moving a hardening board relative to the lap. The percentage opening can be brought to a desired level by regulating the eccentric level, the lap level, and the fulling time. |
