PURPOSE: To enable the floating main shaft to float completely when torque is outgoing by supporting the input end of the floating main shaft by a pair of countershaft gears meshed with the main shaft gear, and supporting the output end of the floating main shaft by a pair input gears of the range countershaft respectively with automatic self-aligning. CONSTITUTION: The input end 44 of a floating main shaft 42 is automatically matched and supported by a pair of countershaft gears meshed with the selectively engaged main shaft gear. In this way, a true 50-50 torque split is obtained between the two main countershafts 24, 26. The completely floating main shaft 42 is positioned only by gears carrying the torque through the movement between the two main countershafts 24, 26. The output end 46 of the floating main shaft 42 is supported by the input range countershaft gears 132, 134 in a line from outside when the gears are driven by a range drive gear 126. The range countershaft input gears 132, 134 are matched with the range drive gear 126 to decide the position of the output end 46 of the floating main shaft 42 precisely. |
