Image processing system composed of morphological macro cell comprises:an image acquiring device, a memory set, a calculation block and a control system. The calculation block comprising:k Morphological Macro Cells (50) comprising each a set of elementary morphological cells (51, 52, 61, 62) arranged in parallel groups (f, g), each cell (51, 52, 61, 62) providing an elementary function of erosion, dilatation or identification based on the use of linear structuring elements, the functionality of each morphological cell and the size of the structuring elements being dynamically programmable and the parallel flows from the elementary morphological cells being re-associated at the output by an arithmetic and logical unit (70).At least one data parallelization system for the simultaneous processing of multiple lines respectively multiple colons allows for the decomposition of a word in p parallel data flows and linked to the p inputs of the morphological macro cells. At least one image reconstruction system from z parallel output flows of k morphological macro cells is linked to synchronous outputs of the morphological macro cells. The elementary morphological cells (51, 52, 61, 62) as well as the morphological macro cells (50) are provided with a control and communication mechanism wherein the control system is capable of selectively stopping the execution of a process depending on data availability, and to restart the process without data lost in the chaining pipeline.
