PURPOSE:To offset the transient dispersion of compression ratio at the time of changing over the compression ratio and make the generated torque of each cylinder nearly uniform by controlling an ignition timing or a fuel feeding quantity based on the cylinder inner pressure during noncombustion. CONSTITUTION:In a multiple-cylinder internal combustion engine 11 in which a compression ratio variable mechanism is provided in each cylinder, a cylinder inner pressure sensor 13 for detecting a cylinder inner pressure is provided on each cylinder. In a control unit 16, the average value of the whole cylinders of cylinder inner pressure at a defined crank angle set immediately before ignition or after the end of combustion is operated. Then, the cylinder inner pressure of each cylinder at the same crank angle is compared with the average value to obtain a deviation. Further, the ignition timing or fuel feeding quantity of the corresponding cylinder is corrected in accordance with this deviation. For example, when the cylinder inner pressure of some cylinder is higher than the average value of the whole cylinder, the ignition timing of the cylinder is delayed or the fuel feeding quantity thereto is reduced. Thereby, the generated torque of each cylinder can be made nearly uniform. |
