PURPOSE: To obtain a sunshine protective cosmetic composition that contains bixin in combination with a benzylidene camphor and/or a benzophenone derivative and is useful for protecting epidermis from UV rays. CONSTITUTION: This sunshine protective cosmetic composition comprises 1wt.% or more, preferably 2-10wt.%, of a UV ray-protective oil-soluble agent selected from 3-benzylidene-d,1-camphor and its derivatives (for example, sulfonamide derivatives) and a benzophenone derivative (for example, 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy benzophenone), and 0.0025wt.% or more, preferably 0.0025-0.009wt.% of bixin, which is the main component of annato and has a reddish orange color and gives yellow color and repels insects in low concentration, is advantageous from the viewpoint of addition to cosmetic compositions, and preferably used in the form of an oil extract from seeds of the annato tree.
