PURPOSE:To enable sure ignition and flame spread to be performed even in case of using fuel with low setane value by providing an auxiliary injection nozzle lying near a spray on the side of an ignition plug having its discharge portion positioned between adjacent fuel sprays from a main injection nozzle. CONSTITUTION:When a main spray nozzle 5 spouts sprays f1-f4 of fuel with a low setane value to a combustion chamber 4, a mixture of approximately even and proper concentration is dispersed and distributed into the combustion chamber 4. While, in this case, as a spray f5 of fuel with a low setane value from an auxiliary injection nozzle 6 is jetted near the spray f2 spouted from a main injection nozzle 5 on a direct downstream in close vicinity to an ignition nozzle 7 and are distributed to the ignition nozzle 7, much fuel sprays toward the other part of the combustion chamber 4 are distributed between the spray f5 and ignition plug 7. Consequently, as a discharge of the ignition plug 7 is performed, a certain ignition occurs and the flame produced by the ignition is spread in the swirl (S) direction. Thus, an ignition efficiency and a smooth flame spread are performed even if fuel with a low setane is used, and a stable combustion performance can be obtained. |
