PURPOSE:To put a coil in motion stably without quenching the coil, by using an oxide superconductor at a connection part. CONSTITUTION:Oxide superconductors 2 are connected to end parts of NbTi or Nb3Sn wires 1 which are cooled up to the neighborhood of a liquid helium temperature. Generation of heat at connection parts 3 where two conductors are connected decreases because the connection parts may have sufficiently long connection lengths l1, resulting in less than the critical temperature of the wires 1. The critical temperature of the conductors 2 at a connection part 4 is so high that two conductors 2 are connected at a short distance without converting into a normal conductive state. Thus a coil is put into motion stably without causing it to perform quenching. |
