PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for oxygen pole which provides a baterry which assures a high discharge voltage and less deterioration during storage by heating a mixed liquid of manganese nitrate and cobalt nitrate. CONSTITUTION:The oxides of manganese and cobalt can be obtained by heating a mixed liquid of manganese nitrate and cobalt nitrate. For example, the aqueous solution of manganese nitrate of 1mol/l and the aqueous solution of cobalt nitrate of 1mol/l are mixed at the ratio of 1:1. This mixed solution is heated up to a temperature of 160-170 deg.C within an electrical furnace and thereby water is perfectly vaporized. A kind of complex oxide of manganese dioxide and cobalt oxide can be obtained. This oxide is smashed into particles of 200- 300 meshes within an agate mortar. The particles thus obtained are used as the catalyst. The carbon powder of 10pts.wt., the activated carbon of 30pts.wt. and polytetraetylenefluoride of 20pts.wt. are mixed in such complex oxide of 40pts.wt. as the conductive material. Moreover, water is added and thereby the slurry can be obtained. Then, it is applied on the nickel net and is dried. After it is dried up, it is then punched into the predetermined size and is used as the positive pole. |
