METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTINUOUS ELECTROPLATING OF ALLOYS

An alloy is continuously electrolytically deposited on a strip in a vertical plating cell, in which the strip is guided by a conductor roll through a downwards entry of the cell and over an immersion roll in the bath, then upwards through an exit passage and over a conductor roll. In both the downwards and upwards passage regions, a pair of anodes are positioned on either side of the strip, while nozzles spray electrolyte in a conterflow direction between the anodes. The insoluble anodes are at a distance of 10-50mm from the strip. The process is especially suitable for applying Zn-Ni and Zn- Fe alloys. The coating is enhanced and the process speed relatively high.
