19-SUBSTITUTED VITAMIN D3 DERIVATIVE

NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R is H or protecting group of OH; R' is H or lower alkyl; n is 2-4). USE:Useful as a medicine having vitamin D-like physiological activity and as hapten for producing antibodies required to measure vitamin D3 in blood using antigen-antibody reaction. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula II (R'' is protecting group of OH) is reacted with a compound expressed by the formula X-CH2)n-COOR' according to the reaction formula to provide a compound expressed by formula III, which is then subjected to thermal decomposition to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I. The reaction is preferably carried out using a compound in which R is,e.g. 2-tetrahydropyranyl or beta-methoxyethoxymethyl.
