<p>PURPOSE:To prepare a reagent suitable for determining hydrogen peroxide, by adding catalase to an aqueous luminescent reagent solution to decompose hydrogen peroxide in the solution, then adding a catalase inhibitor to inhibit the ability of catalase to decompose hydrogen peroxide. CONSTITUTION:Catalase is added to an aqueous solution of a luminescent reagent such as luminol to decompose hydrogen peroxide in the aqueous solution. Then, a catalase inhibitor such as sodium azide is added to the solution to inhibit the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide by the remaining catalase. The luminescent reagent is added to the sample to be measured. As a result, a reagent more suitable for measuring hydrogen peroxide is obtained, and the concentration of hydrogen peroxide can be determined with high accuracy, even when the sample contains a relatively low concentration of hydrogen peroxide.</p> |
