PURPOSE: To drive the output shafts and the engine output member in the same direction during a forward drive mode by providing a two gear forward drive path, a three gear reverse drive path, a transfer gear, a forward clutch assembly and a reverse clutch assembly. CONSTITUTION: To conduct forward drive, a forward clutch assembly 46 is engaged and a reverse clutch assembly 48 is disengaged. When the assembly 46 is engaged, rotary force is transferred from the driven pulley assembly 32 of a variable coupling 26 to the forward drive gear 50 of a forward gear drive passage. Due to the intermeshing, the drive gear 50 transfers the rotation to an intermediate gear 52. The intermediate gear 52 is drivably connected to an intermediate shaft 54. Thus, rotation is transferred to the intermediate shaft 54, then to a transfer gear 44. This drives the ring gear 29 of a differential device 14 and push the vehicle forward. As the transmission is provided with a two gear forward drive path, the rotating direction of the output power shafts 16, 18 is the same as that of an output member 12. |
