The method of navigating through a content item comprises the steps of allowing a user to select a speed for navigating though the content item and selecting a plurality segments of the content item for consecutive playback. A duration of the segments and/or an interval between successive selected segments is dependent on the selected speed. The device for navigating through a content item comprises electronic circuitry operative to perform the method of the invention. The computer program product enables a programmable device to perform the method of the invention.
