PURPOSE:To produce L-tryptophan in high efficiency, by contacting a cell wall digesting enzyme with a microbial cell containing tryptophan synthase and reacting with indole and L- or DL-serine. CONSTITUTION:A microbial cell containing tryptophan synthase is made to contact with a cell wall digesting enzyme and then made to react with indole and L- or DL-serine to product L-tryptophan. As an alternative method, a microbial cell containing tryptophanase is made to contact with a cell wall digesting enzyme and then made to react with indole, pyruvic acid or its salt and ammonia or ammonium ion to obtain L-tryptophan. The cell wall digesting enzyme is preferably a glycosidase such as lysozyme or N-acetylmuramidase. |
