PURPOSE:To obtain a hard alloy having excellent wear resistance and mechanical characteristics in the low and medium temp. range and also having super plastic workability in the high temp. range by forming the structure in which a hard phase consisting of boride and the balance consisting of a binder phase are finely and uniformly dispersed each other in an iron-based alloy having specific componental compsns. CONSTITUTION:Rapidly soldified powder is produced by using the molten metal of the iron-based alloy contg. 3-5% B, 0.5-35% Cr, 0.5-35% Ni, each <=15% Ti, V, Nb, Ta, Hf, Zr, W and Co, <=2.85% Al, 0.03-4.75% Si, 0.05-0.95% C and <=2.3% O and satisfying 0.75-1.25 Mo/B atomic ratio. Said powder is then soldified to produce a fine and stable micro structure, by which the titled alloy is obtd. In said hard alloy, the structure in which 35-60% hard phase consisting of boride including >=10% Fe and the balance consisting of a binder phase are finely and uniformly dispersed each other is formed; and it therefore shows the above-mentioned characteristics. |
