The invention is characterised by a casing of parallelepipedal shape made of folded sheet metal, plastic coated (plasticised) and assembled without any welding and providing a high degree of protection from water, dust, mechanical damage - at least IP 449 - and electric shock - class II - while still permitting easy access to the appliances which it contains, by retracting the 2 opposite lateral edges of the casing 3 when opening the cover 9, blocking the power cables passing through 8 the two opposite fixed faces 1-3 of the base, and increased protection from infiltration of water by a fold 2 covering the upper face 1; the lateral reinforcements 6 render a casing strong, although it is highly elongate (length equal to at least 10 times the width), enabling it to be housed inside a lamppost.
