<p>Appts. and method for communiting frangible particles wherein the appts. comprises an air conveyor in communication with an accelerator e.g. venturi for increasing the velocity of the air stream contg. the particles and a series of spaced impact bars extending perpendicularly across the air stream. Each of the bars has a flat impact surface. In use the particles are accelerated to 4000-10,000 fpm. and upon impact on the bars fragment above a certain mass. The bars have an impact surface of 1 in. and a centreline spacing of 2 in. Milling of filter material e.g. diatomaceous earth or expanded perlite.</p> |
