<p>PURPOSE: To adsorb polar or polarizable impurities by preparing an adsorbent for gas purification from a zeolite 5A type molecular sieve, >=75 wt.% kaolinite and <=20 wt.% quartz. CONSTITUTION: The adsorbent for gas purification is formed of the zeolite 5A type molecular sieve, >=75 wt. dry % kaolinite and <=20 wt.dry % quartz. The gases contg. the impurities, such as nitrogen, carbon oxide, methane or hydrocarbon, are brought into contact with this adsorbent for gas purification to have the impurities adsorbed and removed, by which the gases are purified. The total content of the kaolinite and quartz (clay binder) in the adsorbent is 10 to 40 wt.%, more adequately 10 to 30 wt.%. The kaolinite in the clay binder is adequately >=80 wt.%. The molecular sieve having a bivalent cation exchange rate of >=65 wt.% is adequate.</p> |
