A security system and a control method thereof for performing security authentication by using the video data of a mobile terminal are provided to provide information about the authenticated user if the authentication is completed in the security system operation. A mobile communications terminal(100) stores one or more video data. An opening/closing device(200) stores image data received from the mobile terminal. The video data displayed on the opening/closing device is photographed by the mobile communications terminal. The opening/closing device comprises a communications unit, a storage, a camera part, a controller, an input unit and an audio processing part. A communications unit receives a message including video data and image data. A storage is comprised of a program memory and data memory.
