PURPOSE:To prevent the explosion or burst at the time of an external short circuit by using a porous nonwoven fabric with a lowered melting point by electron beam radiation as a separator. CONSTITUTION:A nonwoven fabric with a lowered melting point by electron beam radiation is used as a separator 3 inserted between a positive electrode 1 and a negative electrode 2. This nonwoven fabric has a low melting point of 80 deg.C, for example, when the temperature is increased by an external short circuit, the nonwoven fabric starts to be melted at 80 deg.C or above, small holes are choked, the resistance is increased, the current is reduced, and the temperature rise of a cell can be suppressed. The explosion or burst is thereby prevented, and the safety is improved. |
