The invention relates to a two-piece modular electrical connector. This connector comprises two main shell (casing) elements 14, 50 each of which contains two contact elements 26 which, when they are coupled together, make an electrical circuit. One of these contacts 26 has a particular design, having a shape in the form of a U, one arm of which can be made in the form of an upwardly-facing tongue 44. The second contact, which can be coupled to the contact 26, is of the slot type and is intended to be clipped into by the tongue 44.
